Help Eight Local Agencies Fight Homelessness
Lafayette, Indiana– To raise funds to fight homelessness and increase our community’s awareness of the issue, eight local homeless and affordable housing service providers have joined in “Homeward Bound: Indiana’s 5K Walk to Fight Homelessness,” to take place on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at Riehle Plaza.
Agencies participating in this seventh annual walk include: Family Promise, Habitat for Humanity of Lafayette, Homestead Consulting Services, Lafayette Transitional Housing Center, Inc, Mental Health America of Tippecanoe County, Rainbow Haven Transitional Housing of Frankfort, Salvation Army, and the YWCA DVIPP program.
Registration begins at 9a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m.
Individuals and teams are needed to walk and raise pledges to support these agencies. Registration is now open on-line at www.homewardboundindiana.org. Click on Greater Lafayette. Walkers can designate their funds to go to a specific agency, or they can share their pledges with all 8 agencies and walk for the cause. The goal for this year is to raise $100,000.
Homeward Bound is a state-wide walk to promote homeless and affordable housing service providers in 11 different locations. This walk is designed to not only raise awareness of homelessness and the agencies who work to help those in need, but it is also a fundraiser.
